The winner will invest 642 million in a 3.5 million TEU\/year container terminal.<br \/>\nVasco da Gama terminal will cost 642 million euros<\/p>\n<p>The launch of the international public tender for the Vasco da Gama Terminal was announced on Saturday by the Minister of the Sea, when the \u201cnew\u201d contract was signed between APS and PSA Sines for Terminal XXI.<\/p>\n<p>If everything goes as planned by the Ministry of the Sea, as of tomorrow, potential interested parties will have nine months to present their candidacies. The award should be made in the last quarter of 2020 and the work will start in 2021 to last about three years.<\/p>\n<p>When completed, the new Sines container terminal will have a 1,375-meter quay front, with depths of -17.5 meters, and a 46-hectare embankment. It will be able to operate simultaneously three of the largest container ships of 24 thousand TEU, for which it will have 15 super post-panamax quay gantries.<\/p>\n<p>The Vasco da Gama Terminal will thus have an installed capacity of 3.5 million TEU\/year, which will raise the port of Sines to 7.6 million TEU per year, making it able to discuss with the competition of Southern Europe and North Africa to attract new lines, cargo and customers.<\/p>\n<p>In return for the planned investment of 642 million euros, the future concessionaire will be able to operate for 50 years, renewable once for ten years.<\/p>\n<p>Source: <i>Transportes e Neg\u00f3cios<\/i><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The tender for the concession of the Vasco da Gama Terminal, in Sines, will be launched tomorrow.
