With around 308 thousand tons of cargo handled until September, the monthly average \u201cexceeded expectations, registering an increase of 26% compared to the same period of the previous year\u201d, explains the Administration of the Ports of Douro, Leix\u00f5es and Viana do Castelo ( APDL).<\/p>\n<p>According to the port administration, solid bulk increased by 124,000 tonnes handled, corresponding to an increase of 112% over the same period last year.<\/p>\n<p>Among the main goods handled in the port of Viana do Castelo, agri-food products stood out, with an increase of 51 thousand tons (+ 537%), becoming the main merchandise imported through port infrastructure.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cSince the beginning of the year, the port of Viana do Castelo has seen a successive growth in the movement of goods. We are now entering the last quarter of the year with great expectations for the end of 2019.
