Every month that passes, the port of Aveiro renews maximum cargo handling. At the end of August, it added up to a growth of 2% compared to last year’s record.<\/p>\n
In the first eight months of 2019, the port of Aveiro handled 3.7 million tons, 2% more than in the same period of 2018, which was already the best ever for the period in question.<\/p>\n
The biggest contribution to the record result was given by fractional general cargo, with a year-on-year increase of 8.7% and a total of 1.1 million tons.<\/p>\n
Liquid bulk also helped, with an increase of 3.7% over 983 thousand tons.<\/p>\n
Solid bulk did not compromise and repeated the 1.7 million tons of a year ago.<\/p>\n
In terms of import-export flows, the former were better, with growth of 3.9% to close to 2.7 million tons.<\/p>\n
Between January and August, the port of Aveiro had 706 stopovers, a figure that compares with the 725 at the same time a year ago.<\/p>\n
