PORT OF LAJES DAS FLORES REOPENED TO LOCAL TRAFFIC
The Captain of the Port of Santa Cruz das Flores announced this Wednesday, October 9, that the commercial port of Lajes das Flores has opened to navigation, on a conditional basis, thus allowing daytime navigation to ships with local traffic.
The commercial port of Lajes das Flores is thus reopened to navigation to ships with a maximum length of 60 meters and a draft of four meters, after the passage of Hurricane Lorenzo, which left a trail of destruction in port infrastructure and access to the port.
The cleaning and rehabilitation work of the port will continue in the coming days, this being a first step towards the total reopening to navigation.
The Maritime Police maintains policing in the port, guaranteeing the safety of accesses and the works that take place in the port and the Captaincy of the Port of Santa Cruz das Flores and keeps monitoring the environmental situation, with the objective of avoiding foci of pollution in the mirror of water from the pier.
