Leixões equipped with a simulator for maneuvering and navigating ships, unpublished in Portugal

The Port of Leixões has just been equipped with a Ship Bridge Simulator, the “Full Mission Bridge Simulator”, an equipment worth 1.1 million euros, unprecedented in Portugal, which allows the study of maneuver and navigation in any port in the world. , with different weather conditions and sea states.

Opened this Friday, July 26, by the Minister of the Sea, Ana Paula Vitorino, this simulator was acquired from the company Wartsila Voyage Limited as part of the Douro’s Inland Waterway 2020 application and had a community contribution of 85%.

The new equipment, unprecedented in Portugal, allows the training and certification of pilots, tugboat masters, merchant marine officers and crews of maritime-tourist vessels, through testing and simulation of entry into ports, as well as waterways.

Due to the class of its certification, the interaction it allows with the two tug bridges and the 360º view of the scenarios, this equipment is unique in Portugal, being available for training and training of any entity.
