South European Pilots’ Meeting – SEP 2023

On the 24th of February the Spanish Pilots Association organised the SEP meeting where the impact of environmental changes and national, European and International legislation were anaylised to understand what will be the outcome for pilotage services in the Mediterranean area.

The meeting gathered 30 pilots from Croatia, Italy, Malta, Montenegro, Portugal & Spain and was attended by EMPA’s President Capt. Erik Dalege, Senior VP Miguel Vieira de Castro and Secretary General Aileen Van Raemdonk and a wide array of very interesting speakers covering Academia, EMSA, Spanish Maritime Administration, Puertos del Estado and Valencia Port.

At the end of the event there was a closed session where the Pilots discussed several actual implications that can have a direct influence on safety of pilotage services moderated by Capt. José Antonio Perez.

Pilot’s and speakers had the opportunity to informally enlarge this debate in the excellent social events hosted by Barcelona Pilots.
