Aveiro with a record of 3.7 million tons

Every month that passes, the port of Aveiro renews maximum cargo handling. At the end of August, it added up to a growth of 2% compared to last year’s record.

In the first eight months of 2019, the port of Aveiro handled 3.7 million tons, 2% more than in the same period of 2018, which was already the best ever for the period in question.

The biggest contribution to the record result was given by fractional general cargo, with a year-on-year increase of 8.7% and a total of 1.1 million tons.

Liquid bulk also helped, with an increase of 3.7% over 983 thousand tons.

Solid bulk did not compromise and repeated the 1.7 million tons of a year ago.

In terms of import-export flows, the former were better, with growth of 3.9% to close to 2.7 million tons.

Between January and August, the port of Aveiro had 706 stopovers, a figure that compares with the 725 at the same time a year ago.
