Lancha dos Pilotos de Santander – Espanha, envolvida no resgate de naúfragos

03/APRIL/2023 Share 7 crew members rescued alive, two dead and 1 person missing in the sinking of the fishing boat ‘Vilaboa Uno’ based in Santander. The Santander Maritime Rescue Coordination Center is coordinating the search for a crew member of a fishing boat that sank early this morning north of the Cabo Mayor lighthouse in Santander, six miles from the coast. The fishing boat ‘Vilaboa Uno’, based in the port of Santander, had a crew of 10 people at the time of the sinking. Seven have been rescued alive (one of them seriously injured). Two other people have died and there is a missing person who is trying to locate with the device established by Maritime Rescue. At 4.10 a.m. on Monday, April 3, an alert was received at the Maritime Rescue Coordination Center in Santander from the ship itself, which was fishing in the area. It had a leak and was sinking. Likewise, the National Maritime Rescue Coordination Center in Madrid received at 4.21 am the COSPAS SARSAT alert (radio beacon) from the same fishing vessel. 

The fishing and merchant vessels in the area were immediately mobilized until the arrival of the rescue units. The means mobilized by the CCS Santander have been: -Helimer 202, Salvamar Deneb and tug María de Maeztu of Salvamento Marítimo. – Fishing and merchant vessels in the area -B/H Juan de la Cosa of the Instituto Social de la Marina (Social Institute of the Navy) -Río Aller patrol boat and Guardia Civil helicopter and fine wing aircraft. -DR helicopter of the Civil Protection of the Government of Cantabria. -Pilot launch At this time, the balance of the rescue is as follows: 1 crew member rescued alive at 5:04 a.m. by the pilot boat from Santander. 6 people rescued alive and the body of a deceased person recovered by the fishing boat SIEMPRE NÉCORA. 1 crewmember recovered deceased at 5.29h by the fishing vessel AVE FÉNIX Of the dead crew members, one of Spanish nationality and one from Ghana. At this moment, a search operation coordinated by Salvamento Marítimo is still active, and in which from early this morning the helicopters of the Government of Cantabria and the Guardia Civil have joined. The Maritime Rescue Coordination Center of Santander, under the Directorate General of the Merchant Marine of the Ministry of Transport, Mobility and Urban Agenda (Mitma), is coordinating this emergency for which an investigation will be opened by the Commission of Investigation of Accidents and Maritime Incidents (CIAIM).
