Sines pilots train at the MSC Training Center in Sorrento – Italy
Thetechnical pilotage staff at thePort of Sines, participated or in training in a simulator aimed at assessing risk and resources for carrying out maneuvers on container ships with a capacity of up to 24,000 TEU (with lengths up to 430 meters.
The training took place in Sorrento, Italy, at the MSC – Mediterranean Shipping Company Training Center, between August and October, with the presence of 10 pilots, and masters and a MedTugs machinist.
The parameterized scenarios simulate the geophysical characteristics of the Port of Sines, creating training situations that guarantee an increase in efficiency and optimization of maneuvers in various operating contexts, from extreme weather conditions, to the eventuality of emergency due to technical failures, also providing the testing of new ship models, as well as the optimization of resources and efficiency in maneuvers.
