A importância do Transporte Marítimo vista pela BIMCO

Bimco has launched a new film “Ships make the world go” aimed at tackling the lack of understanding of the maritime sector and celebrating successes.

The two-minute film was produced with UK broadcaster ITN and David Loosley, secretary general and ceo of Bimco told journalists that it was designed to tackle, “Sea blindness and a lack of understanding, and a lack of awareness of the maritime sector in its broadest sense is still here today.

“Of course, the other thing that has brought this into sharp relief is the Covid crew change crisis, and what the importance of the maritime sector actually is.”

Loosley said the film also aims to celebrate the shipping industry as a force for good in the world.

The other part of the film is really to celebrate shipping and the force for good it is in the world.

Bimco is aiming to reach the world outside of shipping and he explained, “If it can affect the global public, if we can do some work to explain the importance of what we do and in turn influence regulators I think we’ll be in a better place.

“We have specifically made this an industry film, not a Bimco film, very much hoping our colleagues around the world and outside the sector see this as an educational tool that they can push the message out there.”

The plan is to use the film as an umbrella platform for a series of documentaries drilling down into some of the challenges and successes of the maritime industries.

You can watch the video above, and please share colleagues, acquaintances and friends, to raise awareness of the crucial role of maritime to the wider world beyond the industry.
